Ok everyone. I have a 84 bayliner Capri with a Volvo penta aq125a. Yesterday I was finishing up installing a new fuel pump and when I went to attach the metal tube from the pump the the top of the carb I cross threaded it. I don't know the exact name for the part but it's the plate that the flame arrestor sits on and where a metal wire goes from the fuel pump to the top of the carb. Any help on what it's called and where I could find one would be helpful. Thanks everyone Ps: I attached a picture of what it looks like

I managed to repair mine from a similar failure.
A good machinist can put a heli-coil in the fuel inlet port.

Due to the angle, I made a fixture to hold the plate in a drill press to get a straight shot into the threaded hole wiht a drill bit.
Set stop so as not to drill all the way through.
The used same fixture and heli-coil tap in drill press (hand turning) to ensure thread went straight in.

other option might be to aluminum weld in a pipe nipple or hose barb.

or

buy an entire carb for parts, seems like every year there are less and less of these on e-bay

Check around for local boat boneyards and see if one of them has a carbureator. Might even try Craigslist. Sometimes people have the 4 and 6 cylinder engines for sale and will part them out. If it's any consolation, you're not the first one to learn a lesson about soft aluminum threads.

As an FYI, the aluminum crush washers on both sides of the banjo bolt are one use items. You can get them from VP and or from Jegs automotive. The brass crush washers for brakes don't work. In a pinch, you can use an aluminum electrical ring connector of the right diameter.
