Where to get 90* elbow for 1-1/2 fuel fill?

The space for mounting a permanent fuel tank in my latest project is tight. So to make the fuel fill hose clear the bottom of the splashwell, a 90* or 45* elbow is needed because the 1-1/2 filler hose can't bend sharp enough.

They are not in the iboats mall and I have spent an hour or more searching the net with no luck.

Where can I find the coast guard approved brass elbows for fuel fill lines?

If it's a standard 1 1/2"- 90 degree brass threaded elbow, Any Good Large Plumbing supply house, look in your yellow pages for a local one.

I'll be looking for something for my boat when it comes time to put the replacement tank in it. The original metal tank had a 90 degree elbow welded to it, the new one is a straight connection. I figure I should be able to find a plastic fitting that I can glue on, but I need to figure out what kind of glue, and what kind of plastic I can use that won't be affected by the fuel.

A few years ago when I put a permenant tank in my MFG, I found official approved brass elbows for 1-1/2" fill line. Saved the link, but now I can't find it. They are bronze, not brass, because bronze is more resistant to corrosion than brass. They are smooth with rolled ends so a hose clamp will keep the hose on,

But I guess a good FRP Nylon hose fitting (barbed ends, not threaded) should work. I believe that Nylon is resistant to gas and alcohol.

Now where can I find elbows like are used with well pipe? I have been searching the net with no luck! AAAAAAGGGGHHHH!

If you want nylon, we sell lots of it for ag use. And yes, it is compatible with gas, diesel and other petroleum products. We have 1-1/2" barbed elbows in stock and they're very inexpensive.

Copper or Nylon it is. I'll take a look at the local Depot or Lowes to see what they have in copper and nylon fittings.

Thanks for all the replies!!!

Not sure how big a tank your talking about but a 90 in the fuel line will slow your fueling process way down. The auto-shutoff on the gas nozzle will trip continuously while filling.Just something to consider.

I don't know about his, but my tank is vented through a half inch hose besides the fuel fill hose, so I don't think I'd have to worry about that.

Ya,most all are vented. However since all gas nozzles are now mandated to be auto-shut off due to EPA regs. it can be an issue.Like I said,I don't know how large your tank is.If it's only 15-20 gals.probably not that big a deal but if it's 200-300 gals. it can be a problem.
It takes long enough to fill a large tank with nozzle wide open, much less on slow setting.I can just about garranty you if you install a short radias 90 in your fuel line you wont be able to fuel very fast.
I would try to find either a long radias,sweep 90 or use 2) 45's.

NAPA auto parts usually has a good selection of hose fittings, both plastic and metal. They call the plastic ones emergency hose repair fittings.

I put an oversized bow tank in a boat a while back I found a piece of 1 1/2" Stainless tubing that was a pretty sharp s bend at a local steel supplier, it was surplus food or milk handling tubing for something I think. It worked great and I only had to put in a two short pieces of rubber hose.

Does anyone know what the rubber grade is that is used for fuel hose? I came across several long sections of both butyl rubber and silicone hose with wire reinforcement in it.
It would be great for fuel tank installation if I knew it would hold up. It was aircraft surplus.

it will be slow to fill as others have said even if vented. I would try to use at least a 45 if I could.
