Where to get parts for 07 Penta

So where's the best place to get part numbers and parts for 07 and newer Volvo Penta engines? The sites on the forums here don't have engines that new. I just moved to Houston from Florida. I'm used to having boat parts on every corner, but you simply can't find them in the 4th largest city in the nation. Houston has the 15th biggest economy in the WORLD. But no boat parts.

I need parts for my raw water pump. It's leaking off the bottom of the pump housing, between the pump and the pulley I believe (the pulley that is part of the pump). I'd like to buy a new seal for it and try that first before I replace entire pump.

So where do I get the seal from? I can only find diagrams of it, but I know that it's not included in the impeller rebuild kit. What's the best place online to get small parts like this for an 07?

VOLVO doesn't even show this seal on their diagram. It's around the shaft that comes out of the pulley into the center of the impeller. It's like the grease seal on the inside of the trailer axle... a rubber ring with a spring holding it on the axle.

Where do I get this!?

Oh, and it seems like all the other boats are 10 years old when this happens. What caused mine to start leaking at 3 years old? Any ideas? Volvo stopped making this pump and replaced it with another part number by the way, and it's over $300.

Why at 3yrs? Because of Volvo's decontenting program. I doubt if your pump is even repairable, a lot of those Volvo pumps are toss aways....

Great, a 360 dollar disposable raw water pump. I think my outdrive it disposable too... VOLVO has HUUUGE corrosion issues. 3 Years old and I've already had it re-done under warranty once, and it needs to be sanded and painted again. It's pretty bad, but Volvo doesn't take the blame for any of it.

I buy those seals directly from Johnson Pump, and they will also fit Jabsco pumps. However I live closer to the source, so getting the parts is easy.

The seals are quite expensive, at least where I live, and the leaks are caused by scratches in the axle or other problems about the half the time, so replacing the seal is'nt always the solution.

Regarding your corrosion problem you should read this : http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQK/is_1_11/ai_n16019438/?tag=content;col1

Read much of the article...

My anodes I believe are Zinc and the boat was run in saltwater for 3 years up until this year, when I moved fromm Florida to Houston. My anodes are still at about 95% after 3 years of use. There's more corrosion on the outdrive than there is on either of my annodes. This is funny because LEGENDARY MARINE (I'm sure you've heard of them), who did my warranty work on the outdrive to sand and re-paint said that Volvo hasn't admitted their metal alloy mistake.

Regardless of this, again is there anywhere I can get a raw water pump for under $300? Volvo seems pretty freakin proud of this part that lasted me for 2 and a half seasons out of the dealership...

About to have a ritualistic burning of my volvo at the stake to justify dropping in a 350 Merc.

I suggest you get the magnesium anodes for your SX drives - assuming you operate only in fresh water. I have a pair of SX drives now entering their 13th year and have the same raw water pumps and change the anodes every three years, when they are about half gone. The anodes cost a bit more ($50/engine) than the Zn and dont last as long, but they do protect the drives in fresh water.

Happy boating

back up a year or two. part #827247 should work fine and its less than ten dollars.
takes about 3 min to change once the impeller is out.
the SX-A drives tend to corrode but its funny its mostly ABOVE the water line area.
if your anodes lasted 3 years they are not working.
the SX-A anodes are rather pricey also.

Rodbolt,

You have seen that seal used in the raw pump? As far as I can tell, the seal I'm looking for works more like the axle seal on the inner end of the hub on the trailer (rubber seal with a spring wrapped around, clamping it down on the axle).

I can't see anywhere it would be leaking though. Looks flawless, brand new.
