I have an old 40hp 1960 johnson evinrude/gale outboard with crappy wires. I want to replace them, i checked with my local napa store and they said they didnt have the kind that came off my outboard with the center wires in them,, just some other kind that looked like it has some black
rubber or peices in the center of the wire. Do any of you captains know where i can find the good kind of wire needed. Local marine stores do not carry this.
thanks

Hi Cindytim

I bought some of the old type spark plug wire in a motorcycle store here in DK. Just be sure to get some without resistance built in.

I guess your motorcycle stores should carry this type too.

Good Luck

Check with a different dealer. The sparkplug wire is Packard 440 and the OMC (Bombardier) part number is 772584 for a roll. Most dealers keep a roll in stock and cut off whaterver a customer needs.

The sparkplug boot kit is # 581027.

If you have a Boat Us store near, that is where you could find them.

I can make these wires for you, complete with the boots and ready to go. Let me know if you are interested. I do also sell these on ebay because I know they are sometimes needed and hard to find. Give me an e-mail and I will give you all the details. gra6961@usa.net

Allan
