1. The dimensions of this humminbird 587ci are 7"W x 7.5"H x 4"D. Here is my cockpit. If it won't fir on the dash somehow I guess I am going to have to mount it on the driver side gunwhale in front of the cup holder.

2. I plan on wiring this to my isolated deep-cycle. My question is I already have my stereo wired to the ACC switch and I want it run to this switch. Can I just crimp the wires to the same terminal? I will also have to double up the ground as I'm out of terminals on the terminal block.

OR do I need to run another block of terminals to the existing block and wire them to there own terminals?
Any suggestions?

3. I hope I can just use the existing trasom mounting bracket I have on my cheapy depth finder right now.

OR do I want to mount a through hull transducer? Do these work on my style Glastron Bowrider?

As far as where to mount...have you considered the area in front of the windshield? I had same issue as you and after some deliberation I decided to mount my fishfinder display just in front of the windshield...keeps your dash/instrument panel area uncluttered...you can still see it through the glass...and if you actually use it to fish, you can swivel it around to see it from the bow area or just about any other area of the boat. When not fishing, I simply detach it, put the cover on it, and stow it in the glove compartment. Wire tucks down between the cushions in the bow seat area.

Just something to consider...

A mount like this will give you more options. I have one and it works well and seems to be well built.

If the link doesn't work, it's a Micro Ram swivel mount system. Looked on iBoats, but they don't sell them.

Wherever you put it, you want it to be close at hand while you drive so you can access the GPS map functions and/or switch to fish finder mode.

As for the transom mount, most likely you need to use the Humminbird bracket. On a side note, they seem to be notorious for sending spray up and sometimes into the back of the boat. Very easy fix for it, some black electrical tape over the gap between the transducer and the bracket. I read someplace Humminbird will send you some sort of plastic cap adapter if you ask them, but the tape has worked great for me, it's hard to tell it's there and has stayed put all summer so far. (trailer boat) No experience with the through hull transducers, but I am sure they make one that will work for you.

One final side note, the Navionics add on lake maps are an excellent addition.

I did consider this but I have my windows tinted at 15% and I'm thinking it might be hard to see. I guess I will know more when the unit actually arrives and I can see what my options are.
