Where to mount gps

I have a2012 h200ss with low profile windshield and also have elite 5 gps unit that I would like to install but can't decide where to mount it. I had thought of making up a mount to go on the wind shield strut but not really sure any ideas

Pics would help, along with the size of the GPS unit. Read the manual...it will tell you how far away from the compass that it has to be to avoid screwing up the compass reading.
