I recently bought a Starcraft from the 60's. I'm going to rewire all the lights and fix the motor up. I'm gonna clean up all the chrome in the horn and lights. I'm gonna replace the wood on the dash and seats and re vynol all the seats. It's all aluminum so I'm painting it inside and out. My question is "where should I start?"

Start by educating yourself on boat restoration and read lots of the restoration threads in this forum and you will be able to formulate a plan of attack.

Post pictures of your boat here so we can give you the best help/advice.

I would recommend to start with the motor and drive first. Get the motor running well, then work on the boat!

Good luck and post some pictures!

Ayuh,... Considerin' boats rot from the bottom, Up,...

I'd do the same,... Make Sure there's no rotten wood anywhere, 'n work yer way out...
'n paint, before vinyl...

How do I strip the old paint off? Without blasting that is. It's peeling pretty bad in some places. Also the chrome on the lights and horn are pretty rough!

KleanStrip Aircraft stipper works really well. You will need to wear a respirator and Rubber gloves. Cover it with plastic sheeting to make it work better and longer. The pitting on the chrome is not recoverable. Some sand and Paint. Rechroming IS expensive. You could get it Powder Coated.

Ayuh,.... Ya don't,... Just knock off the loose stuff, 'n sand the whole thing, Smooth....

Then prime, 'n paint....
