I have originally posted my engine problems under the topic of 'Violent Stalling and White Grease Leak'. I took the engine (1981, Merc 7.5)to the lake to try some of the suggestions mentioned in this forum and found my troubles are greater than I thought.

Most importantly, it is no longer peeing. This was definitely not the case last time I took it out, which was about a year ago. What could have happened since.

Next, there is gas dripping out of the bottom of the carb. Pretty steady flow of about a drip every second.

There is fuel running into the water through a screw marked 'flush'. I assume this is where all the fuel from the carb is going.

On the good news side of things, it started on the second pull after sitting for a year, and seemed to idle fine for the 30 seconds I gave it once I saw it wasn't peeing.

I didn't check the compression when it was warm, but, the cold numbers are 82 and 85 respectively for top and bottom cylinders.

Where do I start? I'm prepared to set up a test tank in my garage to work on this thing.

Roland.
