Where EXACTLY is the manual tilt valve or screw on a 1979 Mercury 115 hp "Tower of Power"?
I will attach a picture of the right (starboard) side of motor. I believe what I'm looking for in within that picture somewhere, but I don't know exactly where.
Can someone please point out where exactly it is?
Thank you

With this Merc model it's on the trim pump under the splashwell. The exact location on the pump depends on which pump you have. Take a picture of the pump.

I believe for either system the control knob is at the bottom of the pump.
It's only for manually tilting UP.
If you want it to go down you will have to relieve pressure on the up line.

I was mentioning a few weeks ago that i had problems finding out where EXACTLY the little screw or nut is to manually release the hydraulics to i could put the motor vertical. You wanted me to take a picture of the pump, so i think i did. (Sorry, but to be honest, I don't even know where the pump is) with the pictures I took (I will attach them), would you be able to zoom in on them to identify & mark EXACTLY where the release screw or nut valve is)

I just tried to attach the pictures, but I dunno how to do it here. MOD EDIT - Removed email

You know what they about follow the money, in this case follow the hoses. The pump is under the splashwell.

It isn't in any of your pics.

What boat do you have? The pump is inside the boat, probably by the battery and the two fuels tanks. The pump is either screwed on to the deck or it could be attached to the transom.

Each of the hydraulic cylinders have 2 hoses connected to a manifold which has 2 hoses coming from the pump. When you find where the 2 hoses from the manifold to the pump are connected and stick your head in to find the valve, raise your head. The thing you hit is the splashwell.

you may not understand. all I'm looking for is the hydraulic release valve or screw (as most boat motors have) to be able to put the trim down without power. Does that explain it better? it's on the engiine somewhere. first of all, I manually lift the motor up enough so that I can unlock it from the transom lock (which is again, on the motor) and then once i release the hydraulic with that screw or valve (similiar to what's on a hydraulic jack, for ex), then i can manually push the motor vertical. It's really got nothing to so with the boat, it just adjusts the trim manually. Does that make sense now? Sorry for the confusion

Hap - You said you are a real rookie, so why don't you believe us?

The manual release is on the pump and nowhere else. Follow the hoses to the pump. The pump is not on the motor.

If the pump is still the original style, it looks like this;

No picture necessary. Follow the hydraulic hoses to the pump/reservoir in the boat. On the very bottom of the pump is a knurled metal knob, about the size of a quart bottle cap. That is the manual release.

If the motor was trimmed up, it will not go down, when you turn the release knob. However, if the motor is trimmed down, and the knob is turned, you can manually lift up the motor (it will be hard).
