where's the pee

got a old motor i bought evinrude 1972 50 hp with electric shift recently ran it for the first time on a set of muff's just to see whats hapening there is water coming out the prop with the exhaust but i am used to seeing from other motors a stream of water indicating flow i have none dont know where it would come any ideas do i have a problem or just lack of being used to this motor

thanks how besides overtemp switch are you able to tell if you have water flow my old 1956 evinrude 15 exhausts above water

At the top or this thread there is a post covering the install of Tell-Tails on Evinrude and Johnsons. Posted my iwombat.

If you hear the high temp alarm it may already be to late for your power head.

your right good info post is closed any pictures or ideas on where to install on a 2 cyl engine 72 50 hp

The best place, if there's clearance is on top of cylinder #1. I don't think there's much clearance there though. So, your next best spot is high up on the exhaust cover.

If you put it on top of #1 it is best to remove the head to do it. It is tight in there.

I think the post is only locked because they dont want anymore posts on it as it has covered most tell tell appclations. You should be able to read it.


Here is a picture of where I put mine, I picked this spot because it was the highest place on the motor .

Iboats has the head gasket and it only took two days for mine to get to me.
