where's waldo (thermostat)

i have a 1971 evinrude 40 hp 2 cylinder
i have looked all through the mannual for the location
of the thermostat..........i can't find where it is or if it even
has one ..........help,,,,, any ideas

should be on the bottom of the head, below the bottom plug. remove water jacket, not the head. if going there you need the gasket, thermo kit and poppet. do it all at one time. really not a bad job. although they don't show one on the engine diagram

i felt like a dummy not being able to find it on
the diagrams,,,,,,but it was not there i guess
