Which 150 HP Yam ?

Summer is getting closer and temp is already warming up, my cousin needs to buy a new 150 HP OB for his current boat in replacement of an old 2 strokes 150 Evi. 2 nice alternatives to choose :

Yam is the most known and tech supported OB brand here for the last 50 years. Which model would you buy if asking price and fuel consumption is not an issue. Will be prop maximized along a correct OB/transom height match.

I like the 2 strk because it is simple and basic and I am biased that way.. Easy to work on yourself but they are both wonderful motors.

All thing being equal and being a 2 stroke lover id have to go with the 4 poke.If the fuel diff is correct I believe in. awhile you,d make up the diff in price.Of course in awhile ii will change my mine then again in a couple more.Too bad Yamaha wouldn't add direct injection to their 2 strokes .Maybe they could liscence the tech from merc,toh,or evinrude?

For what it is worth ( not much, just my thought) if price and fuel consumption does not enter the equation, if your boat can carry the 4 stroke added weight, go for it.
They are both great engines and can go wrong with either.

Yams has none 2 strokes EFI as Evinrude Etec, Tohatsu TLDI models, preffer traditional carbed models in all their 2 strokes OB range. If new OB will be usd on areas where 2 strokes are much preffered and is better tech supported than 4 strokes, seems will go that route. We're a 2 strokes lover country all the way...

ez, that's me too. I bought my boat new in 2001 with a 60 Merc 4stroke EFI and the pure joy of KNOWING every time you turn that key the result will be the same is unbeatable. A lot of folks here tout the 2 strokes because they're "simple and easy to work on". I've had my motor for 15 years and it's never needed any work other than oil changes so I don't really care whether it's easy to work on or not. I guess the oil changes could be a drag.
