After much shopping and comparing, and changing my mind more than once, myself and the Mrs have decided that our new boat will be the Lund 1625 Classic Sport with a 50hp engine. The question now is whether to equip it with a mercury or honda outboard. The Honda is about 50lbs lighter, but the mercury has more displacement and EFI.Which engine would you choose for the boat we have chosen.

they are both good motors, but i think in a pinch and you need service, the merc you will find more service centers.

I'm basically a small/older outboards type of guy, but I know what motor I would get. The Tohatsu TLDI 50. It's a two stroke that runs as clean as a four, and weighs significantly less. My co-worker has the 90 in the TLDI series, and it positively sips gas. He loves it, and the motors get excellent reviews. I just can't get my mind around doing oil changes and valve adjustments in an outboard (four strokers). Good luck with your new rig. 50's
