Hi i currently have a 1984 20' grady white overnighter with mercruiser 4 cylinder IO. Thinking of purchasing a newer boat this spring with an outboard. Looking for something economically priced. Trophy, seaswirl etc. Looking for same size around 20' walkaround maybe year 2000-2004. I spoke to a guy who owned my same boat and then got a 2003 seaswirl and he said he wished ne never got rid of the grady due to the solid ride it offers. Anybody have any suggestions on good model to look for thanks, Scott

Grady is a tough act to follow. I know a couple of people who will not buy anything else. There is a reason they hold their value so well. 1984 isn't so old. If the reason you want anotheer boat is that you are dissatisfied with the 4 cylinder power, buy another Grady with a bigger engine. You should have no trouble selling or trading yours if it is in good condition.

The only other small boat I know of with a reputation even close to them is a Sea Ray.

Thanks guys the boats in great condition. But have put thousands into the 3.7 liter 470R. Rebuilt twice in two years. Kinks should be worked out but want a more reliable outboard motor. I cant afford a new grady. Only looking to spend approx 15,000

Don't get impatient. Keep looking around. There are a lot of fire sales out there if you have the patients and know where to look. You should be able to find a decent Grady for that money.
