Which charging system to buy?

I am faced with the choice of getting a 6 amp or 12 amp charging system for a Honda 8 hp kicker that I am buying. What are the determining factors for picking one over the other?

Assuming the kicker has its own battery, what else will it need to charge or supply power to?<br />If it is just the battery, then the 6amp should cover it.<br /><br />If the kicker is going to share a battery with an engine that has a charging system, does the kicker even need a charging system?<br /><br />Is the kicker going to be used enough and at high enough rpm to maintain a battery?
