1997 Johnson Outboard. Serial No. J50TLEUC. I am abandoning the VRO2. Have removed it, unplugged harness, unplugged oil tank wiring, plugged pulse limiter hole. Now I am ready to mount the conventional pump to the engine block. The block mounting area is set up with 2 mounting holes and the pulse hole. My question is: The diagrams for my motor show a conventional pump #438557, which has 3 fittings (gas in, gas to carbs, and pulse line). Since I will bolt to the block with an existing pulse hole I don't need the pump with the pulse fitting. I hope that I can use the pump #438556, which only has gas in and gas to carb fittings. It is also considerably cheaper. Will the #438556 bolt up to my motor, and is gas output okay for my 50 HP 2 cylinder motor. Thanks for your help and advice.

I gonna let pro answer that one.

I’m curious, what is the problem with your VRO?

IF you have the pulse hole on the block #438556 should bolt up and supply enough fuel, that pump is used on some V4's also.....

You can also use the fuel side of your existing VRO pump to supply premix only.....details are also in the link.
