Re: which fuel pump kit? '78 70hp :edit: fuel pump kit didn't fix it

when i replaced all of the fuel components, i replaced all of the plastic connectors that were present with the real deal metal connectors. i have run about 25 hours on my new fuel tanks, lines, connectors etc. before this problem arose. infact, this was never a problem until after cleaning the carbs the last time. i guess i just hate to admit that i need to pull the carbs again, but that's probably the real problem. i probably moved some gunk from one place in the carbs to another without getting the gunk all the way out.

here's a schematic of the carbs on my engine...

carb700schematic.jpg

Part numbers 2 and 16 are virtually identical with the exception that one is .066 and one is .086. i put them back in the same place i found them for sure, but i did test to see if they would each screw into each other's hole and they will. i have the .066 as part number 2 and the .086 as part number 16. can anyone confirm that i have these properly located? does anyone know anything else common that i might have goofed up or not put back right?
thanks,

According to SELOC, stock sea-level specs are: Vent Jet (part #2) 0.066", Main Jet (part #16) 0.086"; so you've got that right.

It is starting to sound as if perhaps the carbs aren't quite fully degunked.

As to these screens I've mentioned, look behind the brass fuel inlet fitting on each carb (the fittings unscrew). According to SELOC, they came from the factory with filter screens there, but the manufacturer later indicated that these screens should be removed and discarded when servicing carbs, due to gunking/restriction.
