Finally got my 9.9 evinrude put back together after rebuilt and electric start conversion. When it came to setting up the carb, I ran across two different initial settings for the slow speed adjustment. This forum recommends 1 1/2 turns out from softly seated but my manual called for 2 1/2 turns out.

I set it at 2 1/2 turns out but the thing would not start. Turned it in 1 full turn and zoom, away she went. I'm concerned about running it too lean. How can I be sure of the proper setting? Just because it runs doesn't necessarily mean it is right.

Any thoughts?
