Which manual for 115 Johnson 1979?

Which manual has the most and best info for a 1979 115 horse Johnson? I have a Clymer 46 to 140, 1965 to 1981 manual, but it has very little info on my particular motor. There has to be a better one than this. I realize that the Seloc manuals are better than the Clymers, but which particular manual is best for me? Which one has the most info on my motor? I have found at least 4 that cover this motor, including the one I have. Thank you very much for any help you can give and thank you folks for being so helpful in the past. You are great!

Hi Web<br />The challenge is finding a manual that is in the format that you like. If you want a manual that just covers your motor then you'll need to find an OEM factory publicaion. Even the OEM's will write a manual for a group of motors. All the manuals I've seen and use give the same info. They just put it in a different format. Usually near the begining of the manuals, (the part that nobody reads) is a section on how to use the book. Sometimes it my help if you think of your motor as a group of systems. Then look up the info for the system your motor uses. None of the manuals really tell you how to repair a problem. They mostly describe how to get the thing apart and back together and how it is supposed to work. They give testing procedures to see if things are working properly. When you find a problem then it's up to you to figure out what your going to do about it. That's where this board comes in handy.

Thank you Alcan. I realize there are different formats, but the problem is that some manuals focus on certain models more so than others. For instance, one may show every part of the "smokegrinder" in a 90 horse, but never mention that there are two "smokegrinder" parts that are slightly different and need to be removed and replaced in a special way on my 115 horse. That is why I am trying to find the one with the most info on my particular motor. Again thank you and thank all of you for the help you give to us novices.
