Re: Which model rules iboats?

Why didn't the Jet get included? I know of at least 4 of us out here? Probably more. Might start my own survey where you have 2 choices. You can chose Jet or "other."

Albert

BTW I chose other in this survey.

Re: Which model rules iboats?

Since it looks like juse me and rhody NATIONWIDE on the Sunchief I'd say we probably have the least popular model. Especially since Starcraft mothballed em after only three years and started making those junked up Islanders outa all the hulls they had laying around ::p :)

BD, that offshore is a way better version of the SS in my opinion and KEV, there's a fair number of Mariners out there that shoulda got a mention.

BTW, this is one good smack talkin thread. I like it!

Good thread Kev. Its obvious I like my Starchief, but I will own a SS one day. They both have their uses and advantages/disadvantages. Main thing I want is OB. God Bless the people that have IB/OB, but I would rather be moving than sitting still.:D Guess thats why they make the kickers OB.;) To each their own. My Starchief will serve me well in bad weather and rough waves expecially with grandkids. A SS will be a better fishing machine when going for bass and just playing in nicer weather. My opinion is as long as its a SC, I can't really go wrong. Dale

Nice! I'd have rather had the larger boat than the Starchief if I had the choice. I looked at 30 or more Chieftains and all were I/O powered. I did consider doing a bracket and outboard conversion but figured it wasn't worth all the work.
What year were they made? I've got several brochures here from the 60's and none show the outboard option.
Also, that cabin layout is different than the I/O models I've seen, it's either been modified or they made a more compact cabin to make up for the loss of space due to the splashwell. I just looked at a Chieftain last week, the cabin was like all the others, it had two rooms, the first section had a head on the port side, and a wash sink and refrigerator on the starboard side, and the bunk was the same as in my Starchief.
How heavy is the outboard Chieftain?

I bet that would go good with a pair or 70 or 75HP motors on the back.

I did just look at both a Sunchief and what I think is a late 60's 18" Holiday, both outboard boats, both are sitting along the woods back behind a guys house, I stopped to see if either were for sale but nothing doing, he's saving them for something. The Sunchief was complete and he said it was read to run, the Holiday was full of leaves and moss. The motor was an old mid 60's 50hp V4. I think he let me look around because I had my trailer loaded with all sorts of Starcraft goodies from a Starchief I stripped out.

I intend to keep on him about selling them, but I doubt he'll budge. I've been at it for two years now. Neither boat has moved, neither is registered.

Is there any difference between the SS and offshore? I figured the Offshore was just the SS before they changed the name. My boat is a very deep V, it's a big boat for 18 1/2 feet.

A little smack talk is good for the soul.

I'm amazed at the high number of multiple Starcrafts people own. After I finish mine, I"ll look into a 14 footer.

Only 2 Jupiter?!?

Someone vote for the guy EZ sold his to...and then we need Andy to chime in. Far too popular and common a model to only have 2 votes this far along in the voting.

I guess Starcraft pontoon owners got left out in the cold too...bah who cares:p
