Re: Which motor to buy?

I have to reverse may original suggestion that the Yamaha was the better choice. Go with the Evinrude and don't run it above 1/4 throttle:)

If it is really that bad are there any ways to give it strength. It took me foreverr to replace that transom and I really don't want to start from scratch. Thanks.

Did the orginal transome NOT go all the way down ?

It looks like you only replaced the top 3/4 ?

I think your transom is well built, should hold up to the 115 Yahaha.

Transom does not go all the way down on an aluminum boat.

Have a nice evening guys....

Yea, aside from the staggering of the joints to fit it in, the transom is exactly built to the manufacturers specs. I simply just replicated what was originally in there. Thanks for the reassurance JC1933. I was worried there for a while.

You are very welcome.

I see buy the rib construction of your boat has the same ribs as my Smoker craft could it be a smoker? or does Star craft have the same system.
Or maybe the same boat? just curious . have a nice day.

VRO = Variable Ratio Oiling (Johnson/Evinrude terminology for oil injection). Some engines were available with or without it.

The boat is a 22ft 1978 starcraft (not sure of the model although its a center console). I guess some of the aluminum boat companies use similar techniques when they build thier boats. Do you have any pics of yours? I'll have some of mine in a couple of days if you would like to see. Thanks again for the help and good boating. :)
