I own a 88 johnson 2.5/4hp twin, Also a 53/54 envinrude model 15012 fastwin that I can't wait to get my grubby-mits on. Oh I almost forgot to mention 71 merc 500 John

Mercury 150 Optimax on my boat. Honda 90 Four Stroke on boat at work. Thumbs up on the Optimax. So...So about the Honda Four Stroke.

I own 12 Johnsons ranging from 5hp through 125 hp and from yrs. 1941 through 1976, a 4 hp and a 15 hp Evinrudes, a 5 hp Sea King , 2 40 hp Scotts, a 40 hp Elgin, and a 9.8 Mercury, and 4 different size Minkota trolling motors. Over half run and most of the ones that don't...will again. I'm trying to teach myself how to work on the older motors with 'issues' as the local dealers don't want to touch them if they're more than 10 or 15 years old. I love the older boats and motors! They've got STYLE!

1968 40hp Evinrude Big Twin (project motor)

1953 35hp Evinrude Big Twin (sat 15 years before i found her) cleaned her up and ran fine!

there,s no 35 hp for 53 it is a 25 hp ,for 56 went to 30 hp for 57 went to 35 hp.i have a 1954 e start bigtwin 25 hp that i just got last year and am in the process of waking up.

1971 60hp Johnson looper...runs great...has hydro-electric shift...
On my aluminum 1971 Starcraft 16ft supersport ...a little heavier then stock..
...due to non original 3/4inch floor...boat will do 30mph with a aluminum 13-1/4 x 17pitch prop according to gps...
I also have 5 johnson 5 horses from about 1948 to 1952 plus extra parts

1975, 115 Johnson. Never has failed to start, never had the power head or carbs opened. Just water pumps and lower unit seals. Oh, I did replace the TNT with a CMC unit.

Had my last Merc for 15 years with zero problems, thats how brand loyalty happens in my book.

Oh Man!! I recently caught the old outboard bug and posted a wanted add on craigslist for them. So here's my list from newest to oldest (electrics not included):

2009 Tohatsu 9.8hp (haven't even opened the crate yet)
1997 Johnson 50hp
1986 Johnson 9.9hp
1957 Johnson Seahorse 10
1957 Mercury Mark 10 (still not sure why I bought this one)
'51-'53 Atlas Royal (Gale) 5hp
1949 Evinrude 3.3hp

The first for run sweeter than sweet, The Atlas will before the end of June, I haven't even really tinkered with the 3.3 yet, and I have no idea how to work on the mercury!

I hope to add an OMC 5.5hp, 18hp, 25hp, and 35hp soon...all from the '50s!! I might delve into the '40s OMCs a little more too....
