if i am useing a three blade 15x17 prop and want to go to a four blade prop what would i use, its on a 120hp i/o mercrusie, 15.5 ft glasstream.
dont know the speed, wot is 4200 book max is 4300, aluminum prop is on it now, mostly pulling tubes, skis and kneeboards, so i dont need alot of speed, the boat is hardly ever run wide open and running 70 mph is not wanted just need a good hole shot and speeds of around 15 to 20 will be just fine, however with that said the tubers i pull are pretty heavy and most run in the 200 lbs range, i dont have any propblem with it now unless i want to pull two tubes then it is a litle slow getting out of the hole, once done it planes and runs fine, i just didnt know if i needed to stay witha 17 pitch with four blades or not, thanks richardYou need to provide the performance numbers from your current prop. Rpm's at wide open throttle(WOT), top speed, current prop aluminum or stainless steel, what you do with the boat, high speed, water sports, etc.
I would stay with the 17" pitch then in the four or even five blade design. Either one of them will help provide some hole shot assistance for you.
