I am in the market for a new fish finder. ( Must be portable )

I had a look at :

1. Humminbird Matrix 20 Portable
2. Eagle FishEasy 2 Portable

Any one use any of these or any other brands who could give some advice.

Should I get single or dual frequency?

I will use it mainly ( at night ) for targetting snapper in about 50 to 100 metres and occasionally for trolling.

I believe you need as powerful a dual frequency unit that you can afford for saltwater use.

Forget the H'bird.

The Eagle would be a better choice.

Re: Which Portable FishFinder?

I have had the Eagle fisheasy 2 portable for about 4 months now and am very happy with it's proformance. Just like this board I was told to say away for the humminbird line of fishfinders. The Eagle unit has worked well for me although I do have a couple of complaints about it. One, the mounting station is a little questionable and seems to be easly breakable if one is not carefull. Two, is the battery requirements, 8 D batteries, I can usually get about 15 to 20 hours of operation out of them which isn't bad I guess. I was lucky and found my unit at Walmart on clearance for $119, much cheaper than retail. Good Luck on your choice.
