Re: Which rifle scope?
If you really, really want to teach him marksmanship get a scope that has the ability to be set at 10X or a number easily divisable by 10 (ie. 5 in a variable 4-8 kind of setup) with mil dots and target knobs. The reason for this is that you can use the dots in your scope to actually measure target distance and place an accurate shot with proper holdover that's measured using the mil dots. If you've learned (and you should) how wide your dots are (typically 1/4 mil with other measurements from center to center, center to edge, far edge to far edge) and you place a shot that is off a half inch (or half MOA) 100 yards you can use your mil dots to measure and correct the misplaced shot with precision. It's difficult to learn and master but it'll make your son a marksman, guaranteed. In the mean time you'll have a scope that he can use to practice general marksmanship, breath control, trigger discipline and learn to rely on bone structure to hone his skills.
