You can get the camera with a battery charger, or you can get the camera with the dock, which has a builtin battery charger.<br /><br />The dock makes it easier to load photos into the computer or a printer. Or you can plug the camera directly into a computer with the USB cable. THe whole camera sits in the docking station, and the dock plugs into your computer. The same dock can be used for several other Kodak cameras, so if the wife wants one too, get one that will share the dock.<br /><br />You are supposed to use the new Kodak Li-ion rechargable battery, 1700mAh. They recharge in <3 hours. I have seen generics, but most are only 900mAh. One review I read stated that they had taken 430 pictures before needing to recharge.<br />You can get a spare battery at Amazon.com for $24, but your order has to be over $25 to get free shipping, so buy something else to get the total order over $25.<br /><br />My old Kodak DC120 is a real battery hog, lucky to get 40 pictures from 4 AA's.<br /><br />I bought a refurbished one, that looks like brand new. Refurbished models started popping up online within a month of the cameras release. I believe it comes with the battery charger.<br /><br />BestBuy sells them for $499 !!!<br /><br />There are a couple quirky things with the camera, but nothing too funky. The biggest thing for me is trying to get used to something so light in weight. My old digital weighs TWICE as much. And my old metal body slr's weigh 4-5 times as much.<br /><br />Also, if you choose the 800iso "film speed", the camera defaults to the lowest quality level. But honestly, how often do you need 800iso speed?<br /><br />You can plug in a bigger flash unit, which you probably already have, but there is no hotshoe, so you will need a pistol grip to hold the camera and flash. This makes sense to me, as the flash unit will probably weigh more than the camera.<br /><br />Lastly, although the dock and camera?? support USB-2, apparently it transfers photos at a slower rate. Its not serial port slow, but not usb-2 speed either. Or maybe its just my usb hub that is slowing it down a bit. <br /><br />Yes, I would buy it again.
With your high speed camera I thought you needed or wanted super fast disks/cards. And you should not mess around with a brand that has been reported to not always work correctly. Didnt know you could get away with the standard type. Now that brings up a question. Does using a standard card de-grade the camera to perform at its max performance? How does that work? OK thats two questions
