Which Sealant.....

All,
I purchased my lower unit seal kits for my 4 outboards (1950's Era) today.

I am at the point of buying the sealant to have ready once they arrive.

I have been told I could use three different sealants (online and local westmarine)...which is the best one....for the job?

3M-847
Permatex #2
3M-4200

I am looking for the best one to give my lower units a shot at being sealed....Open to other sealant suggestions.

Thanks
Chris

By far hands down 3M 847 is the superior sealant. It comes highly reccomended by all who try it. Try to keep it off your hands though, she is quite sticky!

I've no experience with the other two you referenced but I can vouch for the 3M-847. It works. Period

Re: Which Sealant.....

All,
Bought the 3M-847 today online.

Found it for $12.02 a tube plus free shipping for a 5oz tube.

While the price of $12.02 is high in my book, at least compared to alternatives, the additional shipping which is almost as much as the sealant itself is crazy!

I have never order from the supplier in question and will post results and supplier once I receive product.

Thanks All,
Chris

Thanks for the input. 3m-847 is the only sealer I'll use.
