I have a 1996 Wellcraft 19' with a 4.3 mercruiser. It looks like my lower shift cable is bad since its really stiff and I can hardly move it by hand when I disconnect it from the engine side. I've seen a bunch of cables online but I'm not sure which one I need. I'm guessing the cable only needs to be about 4' long.

It's not a cable you order by size. It's a specific cable for the purpose. Get the OEM cable, not an aftermarket. The OEM cables are teflon coated and work so much better and longer it more than takes care of the few more dollars they cost than the aftermarket.
What drive is it for?

First Don I just wanna say thanks, I'm new to boating and have a ton of questions and I feel like you've put your $.02 in on all of them and have always been very helpful.. Its an alpha 1 gen 2.. I really need to know all the parts I need, any tools/extra, a write up on how to do it (pics would be great) and how long it should take.
