The lower octane is whats recommended no matter what spark plug you use (with stock compression). I prefer the cooler plug simply because theres less chance of piston damage.
The higher octane actually burns cooler, so you would be right back where you started if you use a hotter plug and higher octane. Dhadley is right on it, as usual..
