Whats the application ? cushions ?

Do you have Monel staples on hand ?

If you buy the stainless steel ones from HD or Lowes etc....and read the fine print on the box .....it states Not for Marine use.

I have used those SS ones for years w/o any problems.

I took that to mean "hard-core saltwater use" and used 'em anyway on my boat. No issues yet.

I second what the others said - I used SS and had no problems - but I am in fresh water not salt. Those Monel are really pricey. My boat is pretty old, and couldn't see spending good gas money on Rolls Royce staples when the rest of the old girl had pretty prominent age spots and blemishes.

I used monel and stainless on my boat. No issues with either but my boat is fresh water only and stays in a garage. I will say this though, the monel staples bend much easier. If you are trying to staple into anything hard get the stainless.

You got that right!

I used Monel staples for 90% of my boat resto. I also used every 4 letter word in the book while pulling out bent staples, probably 25-30% of them bent going into marine doug fir plywood.

Lowes was out of Monel so I bought some SS staples,,,, about 1 in 10-20 of them bent, I can live with that... For some odd reason the cursing stopped.

I'll NEVER use Monel staple again!

All I use is monel and have never had a problem with them bending. Maybe its your stapler?

2 different electric staplers did the same thing, cheap $10 harbor freight stapler and a $50 Arrow. I swapped them a coupe times and the result was the same, bent staples too often.

Maybe I got defective staples, weak metal? I'm not going to spend $16/box to try them again though.

I used the SS staples from Lowes when I put new carpet on my bunks last spring. It has been in and out of saltwater over 100 times this year and they are as shiny as the day when I put them in...

I used SS from Lowes on my bunks but yesterday I recovered the foam cushions on my cuddy and ran out of staples. I went to the local hardware that didn't carry SS staples but did have galvanized staples for roofing felt that I bought. A box of 5000 count for $5...can't beat that.
