I need a new starter. I've got a really old mercruiser system. There are no seriel numbers on the engine. It's a straight 6 GM 250 in a 1969 Fiberform 24'. A sticker on the valve cover says "160hp" The starter is starting to go (at least it's "starting" to do something!). The distributor is a Delco-Remy so I'm assuming (I know...I know) that the starter is Delco too. Anybody have any idea how many teeth on the flywheel and is the starter cw or ccw? Is the starter I need the same starter for 165's?

If it's a Single engine appl. ,
You have a Standard Rotation engine.........

Other than that, there are only 2 options....
Straight accross bolts, for the small flywheel,
And,
Staggered bolts for the Large flywheel........

Take it off,+ Look.........
