Which tachometer for an 85 'Rude 90hp?

I'm looking at getting some gauges for my boat but have no clue which tachometer I need to get for my motor. I have no clue how many "poles" I need

You need a tachometer that can be set to 6 pulses. If you have the Evinrude/Johnson side mounted remote, it has a plug for a harness that comes with the correct OMC/BRP tachometer from a dealer. The Faria and Teleflex tachometers work the same if set for 6, but you will need to buy or make a separate harness.
