i was under the assumption that the efi is their optimax. i didnt know they made any other efi, unless its four stroke.

either way, unless you are a master mercury mechanic, which i doubt from the question asked, youre not gonna do much repairs yourself. these arent user friendly motors. most stuff you do yourself will void your warranty quicker than you think!

The efi is an upgrade from the carbed models. Definately not the Opti-Max.
If you think the 150 Opti has enough power for your 22 ft boat, that would be the way to go, but personally, I don't think it is. Having said that, go for the the EFI, I think you will be happier with performance. The DFI will get better fuel consumption though, but you will have to run it harder to make up for lack of horsepower unless you 22 is really light. I think the Opti will be heavier than the 225EFI.
