Which type of battery?

Hi-

Just bought a small Duroboat (a locally manufactured al. boat) with a 9.9HP electric start Mercury Bigfoot. Didn't come with a battery. For the test run, I stuck the 12V deep cycle battery from our camper in it.

Look at ads, I see both deep-cycle and combination deep-cycle/starting batteries advertised. Any reason not to buy the combination type? I'm thinking it would be nice on "dry" camping trips to be able to swap the battery in the RV with the one in the boat, and get some charge on it that way.

thanks,

-dm

Re: Which type of battery?

The start a 9.9 You do not need a starting battery, however auto starting batteries are much cheaper and have 3 year free replacement and 100 month pro rated warranties. Worst case with the 9.9 is you pull the starter roap and it starts. Get a battery the same as you tow vehical on match your camper or RV.

Battery life depends more on how soon you recharge your battery than on anything else.
