Re: which type of boat would you prefer?

For watersports ONLY, inboards will be far superior to a jetboat. Many owners of jetboats who recreationally ski behind them comment on how they choose to go with longer ropes (75 feet and longer) to get out of the bubbly jet wash that causes a sinking feeling when they ski thru it.
And anyone who is serious about watersports knows that long ropes suck...for slalom the objective is to see how short you can make the rope. For Wakeboarding short ropes are the standard. For wakesurfing your rope is what, maybe 10 feet long?
Though I'm quite certain Yamaha has ample power, offers towers, balasts, and perfectpass options, and would work just fine for recreational watersports, it would not be nearly as nice as a traditional inboard when you start towing truly accomplished enthusiasts.
That said, I bet that Yamaha jetboat would be a BLAST to drive, are significantly faster, would definitely be more comfortable in rougher waters, and would outmaneuver an inboard all day long. They're EXCELLENT all-around boats from anyone I've talked to who owned one, and they're very capable of pulling watersports and are far more versatile for all around use. If you expect to do much more than just watersports with the boat, they're very worthy of consideration with the understanding there will be a few compromises.
