which wires for rev meter?

My control box is OMC single lever, there is rubber cover over I think 3 connections, I understand these are for rev counter can anyone please tell me which ones, my engine is Evinrude BE40ELCR 40hp 1984. JBD

Gray goes to SEND on the Tach.
Purple goes on the "I" terminal on the Tach.
Black to ground

There is a harness that plugs into there if you don't have one already..
