I just bought a new 2012 1700 super hawk with a 115hp mercury 4 stoke. I love the boat but it seems slower then it should be to me. It has mercury ss vengeance 18 pitch prop. I am not sure of the diameter. At wot 6400 rpm it does 41mph on fish finder gps. The boat weight about 1300 lbs plus the motor and about 200 lbs of gear and two adults in the boat. The mercury prop selector says to run a trophy sport 21 pitch 4 blade or a laser 20 or 21 pitch prop. Which prop is better? Or which prop should I run? There is about 30hrs on the motor I run at an altitude of aprox 1800-2000 ft. I hope some one can help me out thanks

Since you bought this boat new, I suggest that you talk to your dealer about trying out a different prop.

Actually, according to boat tests, your performance seems on par with the other Crestliner 17 foot boats with similar power.

Examples: a 115 Optimax did 40.7mph, and a 115 Yamaha did 42 mph.

i agree Calculator says about 12% slip a reasonable amount. 2000ft will knock about 3% off your power
so I'd say your doing fine.
I think some aluminum boats can be a little slower than glass because of all those rivets, seams and convolutions.
so again your doing well.

Is his WOT supposed to be at 6400rpm,I was thinking 6000?
Maybe he could go up a pitch or two and gain alittle top end while staying in the suggested rpm range?
Opps,guess I should og gooogled earlier,the 75/90 go to 6000rpm;115hp 6400.
