Seems someone decided they needed that plate off of my 1978 115 HP Evinrude for their own devices and left me without one. This is just the plate that forces the air to be intaken from behind the front of the engine. Does anyone know of a good source to buy one of these plates from? While I'm there does anyone know where to buy the replacement plastics from the shifter also? (It's broken on the top allowing you to see the back of the trim switch at the top. If you're a dealer feel free to email me.

Thanks... Gary

Thanks Hooty, I dropped them an email. Any others out there you guys have had good luck with. What motors would have the same exact block as the 1978 115 HP Evinrude?

Thanks... Gary

The same exact block? Only the 78 and a block from a 77 25" motor.

In 79 they went to a larger center main on the crank.

The 77 20" motors and earlier to 74 had a slightly different mounting bolt pattern.

The 73s used a different crank.

What are you trying to do?

As stated... Someone lifted my cover and unbolted the carburator cover plate and left me without one. I just need to replace the cover.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Gary

You can get a air silencer cover from any salvage yard like Superior Marine (800-338-9281) but that has to do with the air silencer base not the engine block.

When you asked about what was the exact same block we thought you may be trying to change blocks or mid sections.

Sorry!

Thanks for naming what I was looking for. I had no idea. I bought the microfiche of Johnson moters from a defunch dealership on Ebay the other night just so I could look up a parts breakdown to see what it was I was looking for. I had no idea what it was called.

Any other places would be great. I will try that one tomorrow.

Thanks,

Gary

Can anyone else recommend a salvage yard?

Superior Marine might be on vacation as I called there today looking for the air silencer cover and got no answer or call back.

Thanks... Gary
