Jack and coke for me.

There is a bar down the street that has Jack Daniels listed under Bourbon on their "specials" list. It drives me crazy.

Glenfiddich is the favourite. Not only suits my taste, but I go after the "tins" it comes in. Although now seens the cheap B.......'s have moved to the cardboard version.
For the past yr have taken to mixing coke with my whisky, so use a cheap label for that.
Also taken to drinking Southern Comfort with coke.
Now here is one that will stump most of you. Jim Beam and L&P was excelant, but can't get the L&P over here.
Guess the boys from "The Land of the Long White Cloud" will tell us if it is still a popular drink.
Cheers
Phillip

How can you take a good whiskey like Jack Daniels or Crown Royal and then mess it up with coke or 7Up? You might as well use the cheap stuff since all you taste is the soda anyway. That's like taking a good filet mignon and putting catchup on it. As my wife would say, "puts me off me tucka."
Ok, don't shoot me.. just one man's opinion.

My excuse is that I normally drink beer and never did like the taste of whiskey much. I like Crown Royal cause its smooth. I've had it with a splash of water when the 7-up is gone and like it that way too. :)

Ladyfish, isn't it funny how people's taste varies? I personally don't like beer but I love the taste of good whiskey. I guess that's what makes us individuals, huh?

Jim Beam and Coke if I want to just drink and engage in conversation. Southern Comfort (straight) if I just want to sip and relax.

Most other times it's just longnecks.... :)

I saw this story in my local paper this morning...

Scotch whisky gaining in popularity

28.10.2004 7.00 am

Scotch whisky is gaining favour in China, Brazil, India, Russia and Turkey, official figures show, helping push exports up 3 per cent - the equivalent of 14 million more bottles.

Yikes! - sounds like the beginning of the oil story over again... I hope supply can keep up with demand - especially when you consider how long it takes to make...

Re: Whiskey Drinkers

I prefer Jack but a few years ago I went out of my way to help a couple of old ladies stranded on the highway. Turned out they were a judges mother and wife. He sent me a bottle of whiskey, small bottle with a tag of $65.00. I think it was called Nobb Hill. That was excelent whiskey! I saved it for a special occasion.
As a teenager we used to get into my friends dads bar and steel bottles of four roses. That was closest to the store room. We would walk around town drinking the rest of the night. That stuff was awful, but at 15 or 16, who cares.

Chevas or Johnny Walker. If i can afford it black or once in a lifetime blue label.I never spoil the taste with nasty ice. When it is room temperature it is possible to taste the oak aroma from the barrel.
When drinking cheap whiskey it is a good idea to hide the taste and mix it.

I had Johnny Blue for the first time last week.

I'm looking into purchasing a bottle when the wallet permits it. Damned expensive stuff. I'm partial to Glenfiddich myself.

Gibsons 18yr Rare is a nice whiskey.
