Anyone have any pros or cons on using CRC White Lithium Grease on end cap bearings?

My book says to use light oil. Probably because of the tight tolerances and lithium grease can trap grit and degrade over time.

Since the bearing is normally lubricated by the fuel-oil mix, you wouldn't want to use any kind of thick grease.

Use oil or something that'll 'wash' out after the motor is started up for the first time.

I've used petroleum jelly with no ill effects; the outbd mfrs sell a bearing assembly pre-lube grease that's appropriate for assembling roller and needle bearings.

I second that motion, I find white lithium degrades and dries up over time.
