Since I've bought my Honda 7.5 1985 I've probly put about 30hrs on it. I changed the gear and motor oil. Today I trolled alone for about 6 hours. It was a bit wavey and about the last hr the motor stated to not run right. It would act like it was not getting gas but then would. I noticed the very back of the motor head was in the water. I dont have much weight in the front of the boat, just me, battery, motor, gas, downrigger. When I got home I found the oil was white which means water got in there. Why? Did water some how get in there from it not being high enough from the water or is there a bigger problem. The oil was fine last weekend after I fished and I alway has someone with me before. But not this time. Circle is where waster was sometimes on motor and line shows about where water usualy, like and inch above the upper exuast.

I would replace the oil, run it in a barrel for awhile to see if it "milks" up again, if it does not, I would return it to the boat and be more carefull about maintaining a level boat/motor waterline..........Don

The water line is way to high on that motor, you need to raise the motor up on the transom. OR get some weight in the bow.

Here it is in the bucket.

Heres what the oil looked like when I got home from fishing.

Now I ran it in the 35gal can today for 40mins. The water temp was 70ish when I starteed motor now it is 120degrees. Is that normal? The water coming from the pee hole never feels hot when on the lake, but is it only hot cuz its reusing the same water to keep the engine cool that it got hot? also The oil looks fine. could my thermostat be stuck?

If the barrel water warms to 120 degrees then the motor thermostat is openning and working properly. If the new oil is fine after running in the barrel for 40 minutes then it appears that you have no water to crankcase leaks so you should be good to go in re-installing the motor to the transom as long as you keep the waterline well below the engine cowling............Don
