I have a 1987 mercury blackmax xr-2 150 that I just check all the compression an they turned out all to be in good compression. When the engine is cranked an gave some gas, there is fuel that sprays out of the carburetor an idling there is smoke coming out of the middle carb on the port side, and also smoke coming out of the number 4 cylinder when the spark plug is removed. It also seems to be shooting some oil out of the carb also. What would be causing this?

Replaced fuel filter, primer bulp, and also fuel pump. Has trouble getting on plane when first put in water, but once on plane is fine the rest of the day

Sounds to me like one of or both of the following:
reed valve issues
float valve in carb not working right.

I shall watch tthis thread to see what others may offer.
