White Smoke - Engine Compartment

Have a Ford 302 / Volvo Penta OD. White smoke coming from engine compartment, otherwise boat starts and runs fine. Is the first issue the exhaust manifold and risers with this problem, or other things that would cause this ???

Would this be a 1976 or a 1996 model? What's the full model number or serial number of your engine?

Its a 1970's engine - boat is 1972.

Would it be best to run a compression test to rule out the engine if readings are good ? Im getting this boat for free and am willing to put a little money into it, but not if it has major engine issues...
