The white tube from the carb was not attached to the fuel pump when I was cleaning up my 3.0lx aplha one. I placed the white tube on the fuel pump and noticed that it made the engine run a little rough and also reduced the rpms significantly. Both ends have a little vaccum on them" Both sucking in" Did the previous owner take this off because he noticed he got rpms or is this hiding a possible issue with the carb and this was their fix??? Thanks.

Re: White tube from carb

I am fairly certain that the tube is supposed to give you an indication if the diaphram rupturs in the fuel pump. When "normal" there should be a vacum present on that tube, but no "path" for air movement. If the diaphram were to fail, then the fuel would get sucked into the carb.

It might be that the carb was adjusted to compensate for the vacum leak that was created by that tube not being connected before.

Re: White tube from carb

Makes sense. I guess I will take it down to the marina that I bought it from last year and have them take a look at it. I did noticed that there was a little bit of liquid in the tube. When running the liquid just stayed there and did not move. I am almost afraid to do anything. This boat is something else. I must have got the best set up in the world. I can take this boat from Henry Illinois to starved rock Illinois and back on a 15 gallon tank with gas to spare. That is almost 45 miles driving in a car, I am not sure what it would be in nautical miles and I am running at about 3800 rpms plus stop and go. Thanks for the reply
