White Wire ?

Im looking at the wiring diagram for my remote and the white wire (F) dead-ends at the plug. my problem is the guy i bought the boat from cut the plug off and wired direct to the engine does this white wire need to be connected to the engine. the diagram showes it required to run. Is the wire connected to another inside the molded plug<br />REf 76-77 Merc shop manuel for merc 850
