Got a '58 Johnson 18 that's still going strong here too, it ain't pretty but it beats paddling. Parts are no problem either. I dug it out after its replacement wore out and died a few years back. Dragged it out, cranked it over a few times, some fresh fuel and it fired right up after sitting about 5 years in the garage. I even treated it to new points, plugs and an impeller. I sure with it's last owner hadn't camo painted it though.

The old OMCs were the best. Time will tell about todays motors.

I just picked up a 1958 18 hp johnson for 75 dollars, runs like a champ!I have several old omc,s ,what i like about them is the commenalty of parts and how easy they are to service and get parts for still.If i was forced to buy a new motor which honestly just wouldnt look right on a cedarstrip( varnished )boat, it would be the e-tec.
