I have a 1997 Four Winns with a 5.7L Volvo Penta I/O. I have a severe case of Vapor Lock everytime I go to the lake.
I have tried the following:
Idling for 5 minutes before shutting off
Leaving Engine Lid open whil stopped
Blower motor running during and after running.
I have also took a piece of 5/8" rubber Fuel line hose and split it down the center. Then wrapped the metal fuel line that goes from one fuel pump to the other fuel pump (this is on top of the intake manifold).
Nothing has seemed to help.
I know there is a mechanical pump that Mercruiser has published for their fix. But what about the Volvo Penta People? What have you done to fix the problem.
What drives me crazy is I see other boats that park in the coves next to me and they dont seem to have this problem. They dont idle, run blowers, or pop engine cover. When they are ready to leave after several hours, they start up and vroom! their gone. Some have volvo's and others have merc's.
I am very frustrated and tired of being towed back to the docks.
