We'll hopefully be on the water on Monday if the weather cooperates. Fortunately our intended destination doesn't get too crazy even on holidays.

I hear ya there! It's been the coldest crappiest spring I can remember in a long time. Currently 47 degrees, low in the mid 30's tonight and only 60-61 on Fri-Mon..... Boat wont be going in the water this weekend. Miserable Mother Nature.

Same story in Nebraska also. Cold and wet this weekend.

We are pulling the boat from Raleigh to Emerald Island then taking the 30 mile trup up to Bouford, NC. Staying Saturday and Sunday at the public docks there. Perhaps stop in Morhead City on the way up for lunch seeins as they have several dock up resturants and we have to go by them anyways :)

Weekend, ppphhfffff! Been on vacation all week and haven't gotten the boat wet once. Weather not co-operating should have stayed at work another few weeks. Besides after working 6 days a week sense January it's taken 3 days just to feel rested! Then when back to work it will be back to 6 day weeks until????????????

Hope the rest of you have a great time though.

Re: Who is ready for Memorial Day Weekend?

I'm ready ! ! ! Bought this pontoon in January and have been hustling to clean and restyle it.

In the storage lot looking sad....

Cleaned, restyled, and at the new marina

Canvas up, interior done, ready !

Just barely on the trailer.... 30' pontoon on 24' trailer... only had to go 1/4 mile to get to launch.

Splashed and docked. Ready for the season ! ! ! !

Really a nice decked out toon. You did a great job. Your job of tieing up to the dock is professional too.

Soooo ready! Heading out in our houseboat, towing a skiff. We will anchor up at Three Rooker Isalnd, off Palm Harbor FL for a couple days, much needed relaxation.

And BTW, very nice job on the Pontoon!

May we all remember the reason we have a Memorial Day. It's not all about boating and BBQ. God Bless the veterans who sacrificed for us.

I've been fishing a dozen times or more since Feb but plan to go mushroom picking this weekend. I feel for those that don't have the luxury of going mid-week and as a favor to you, I won't be! Have fun out there and be safe.

Wow, "Mushroom picking"? They must really grow in your neck of the woods because we call it "mushroom hunting" around here! lol

I opened the cabin last week and installed my new dock..

I don't think I can get the boat in this weekend. With my broken arm, I need additional help. Might be 2nd week in June before the boat goes in..

At 7:45 this AM we already had our first accident up here. A guy towing his boat to Chatuge, had his boat hit in the rear by another guy towing his boat to Chatuge. LOL. This is going to be a wild and dangerous weekend. Y'all be careful out there! Its the other people you have to worry about.

Saw one of those last year....there was road construction and the guy behind the person hauling the boat must not of been paying attention and slammed right into the back of his boat. Looked ot be brand new bowrider too with custom graphics. Outdrive was smashed and transom was mangled...had his whole family with him too....what a way to start a vacation

Re: Who is ready for Memorial Day Weekend?

With the exception of the jetski, all of the boats have been ready and in use for several weeks now. All the 'ski needs is a battery install. Tank already full from last fall.

Now, as far as Memorial Day Weekend....now lets see...
*all the guys with new boats and no clue will be on the water
*all the old guys with junk boats that they didn't bother to maintain will be out
*all the drunks partying will be out.

So, you can expect a bunch of tows and whole lot of stupid people.

No thanks. We'll be at the cabin in the mountains enjoying the weekend.

No, the old guys had their boats serviced in February when the shops were slow. This is 1 weekend, like most weekends, old guys leave the water for the young fools showing off or getting high. Our boats have been on the water for months, some of us never winterize. Can you tell I'm an old guy?

Well, you caught me there. I was typing at lunch and didn't think it all the way thru. Probably just semantics, though. I know lots of old guys who treat their stuff like crap. And other, that are very meticulous.

Guess I should have said "dumb old guys". The smart ones do it in Feb. Actually, I do mine in December, just before Winter layup.

PS - I'm an old guy too....even past retirement age....LOL.

Re: Who is ready for Memorial Day Weekend?

Dec is the end of the busy season here. Those that winterize are getting it done before Christmas. The mechanics at the marina go one vacation over the holidays. When they return they are busy until February. Most of the 'old guys' at the marina paid between $65K and $100K for their slip- some well over that. Then there are the $360 quarterly HOA dues. Most have the marina take care of all maintenance as well. Although I rarely go out into the Atlantic during winter months there is still a lot of fishing to do in the ICW, inlets, and rivers so there is no reason to shut her down. Nice to go to lunch or dinner by boat while those living in other places shovel snow. PS this old guy retired a decade ago at age 55. Have a great holiday!
