Who knows anything about Corsa Captains Call installation?

So I am looking at possibly installing a Corsa Captains call on my boat. There are a few sets on e-bay that were made for the same manufacturer of boat (Mariah) but are different part numbers from what Corsa sent me. They are listed for the same engine (5.7 Mercruiser). The spacers are different as well. My set calls for a 3" and this kit has a 4.7". My kit also calls for 18" of exhaust hose. What are the chances this kit would work? I know nothing of these systems so anyone with knowledge of them would be of great help. Thanks

Ayuh,... I'd say slim to None.... The discriptions ain't even Close...

If your risers are 3",... a 4" set-up really ain't what you need...

If you really want to do this, don't 'cheap-out' and buy used parts that probably won't work for your application. Do it wrong and you could ruin your engine. Do you know about water reversion?
I suggest you contact Corsa and buy a Captains Call system from them. They're a good company and have the experience to engineer a system with the correct parts for your boat. IMO it's the best way to go.
I bought and installed a Corsa system about 15 years ago. I'm a building contractor and it's a pretty complicated job. Unless you're comfortable with wiring and cuttin' big holes in your transom, consider having it professionally done.

Re: Who knows anything about Corsa Captains Call installation?

Its not a used system but rather leftover from the manufacturer which closed. Corsa quoted me $2200 which is alot higher than other quotes for other boats I have seen posted. Call me cheap but I am having a hard time justifying $2200 for this. Other quotes I have seen for boats seemed to be up to $1300 or so. I asked why this kit was so much more expensive but didnt really get a response other than that is what it costs. That part is fine but explaining how this kit may have more parts, different engineering, whatever would allow me to give it serious thought. If not my options are to just not purchase one or consider if these other kits could possibly work. Thanks again for any help.

As I recall I spent about $2K for my Corsa system back in the late 90's, so $2200 isn't out of line.
As far as the stuff on ebay sure they MIGHT fit, but you'd be on your own as far as the engineered specifics of your boat- like exactly where to locate the exhaust tips and how much riser height you need. You asked about the chances of the kit working for your boat- well IMO slim. If you think it'll work then go for it, but know that there is potential for some serious problems if not done right. Good luck.
When I bought my Corsa system it came complete with dimensioned drawings showing exactly where to cut and the correct risers. The only additional parts I had to buy were some exhaust hose, clamps, a matching dash switch and some 3M 5200 to seal the holes.
Here's a couple pics.

If you really want to pursue it, and you, (or a friend) are quite handy with tools, they can be easily fabricated in a basement or garage for a fraction of those prices. (I've done a few)

Here's some tips;

Remove the exhaust elbow(s) from the engine. Clamp a piece of 1x6 to each end of the elbow faces, so the the 2 pcs of 1x6 touch each other. Glue & screw the pcs together, add a brace for rigidity.
Now you have a fit jig to work from. Get some 3" stainless tube, cut a piece 6" longer than the elbow, clamp it to the riser end of the jig. Now measure perpendicularely from the Y pipe end of the jig to the center of the 1st piece of tube, that's the length needed for the down pipe. The upper end of this piece needs to be cut to fit the round surface of the 1st piece. Use stiff paper to make a template, then mark the pipe with it. When it fits, tape the 2 pcs together, remove from jig, reach into 2nd pc and mark the hole with a marker. Cut the hole, tig weld the seam.

Still with me?
Now cut 2 round discs a bit bigger than 3", then make it oval so that the smaller dimension will fit inside the tube. Cut 2 pcs ?" ss rod, 5" long, mill it half flat for 3" starting ?" from 1 end. The rod & disk will be the butterfly valve to open/close the thru-hull pipes. Weld 2 bushings on, add a solenoid or air cylinder to activate it.

Now fit it in place with the original hose couplings & clamps, eye up an extension of the horizontal tube, drill a pilot hole for the tips. I made them from the same 3" ss tube, just tig welded a flange on to bolt to transom. 1 more rubber coupling & clamps, done!

You can just see them in this pic, when i did my OMC to Merc conversion;

I believe Hardin has an air activated setup for around $700, $1100 if you have twins.

I use engine manifold vacuum to a small reservoir, a dash mouted pneumatic lever switch, to a pair of Bimba cylinders. It saves having to install an air compressor/tank/solenoids.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I dont think I would be up to fabricating one myself. I didnt think to check Hardin so thanks for that tip. Arks it looks like you have totally revamped the old Wellcraft. I used to love those old Wellcrafts back in the day!

Yeah, I had that boat for 18 years. Sold it in 2004 but recently picked up another one, same year and model.

You got it. Was nice to watch the oil pressure come up before cranking the engine. Also the Q-D's made it a snap to change the oil.
