Eloquently put, chief, and that expresses most of my thoughts as well. Been married 38 years myself.

Re: Who likes being mairred?

Chief, may I "ditto" that. I have not been married as long as you have, and I am still hanging to my 40's, but I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful wife. She is my friend, my companion, my comfort, and my strength. She keeps me going.

Things are not always perfect, but then again, I guess I am not perfect, so that must be the problem! I can tell you one thing, life would not be the same without mrs aspeck. I try to tell her how much I love her each day and make sure that she feels special, because she is. There are times I have to remind myself of that, but in the end it is worth it.

As a society we have gotten to much into instant everything. We want everything right now ... shucks, sometimes we complain if we have to wait 15 seconds for a forum page to open. Instant gratification, instant this, instant that. So if everything doesn't go our way, instantly, then scrap it all, we will go to a new forum that is faster, or a new wife that is younger, prettier, smarter, etc. But love takes time to grow, time to nourish, time to strengthen. A good marriage is not about the instant gratification, but the lasting friendship, the enduring love, the "for better or worse" sticking together through it all.

So you that are looking, don't always look for the prettiest. Look for the best friend, because when the beauty fades, you will still have friendship. I just happened to be lucky enough to get a beautiful friend who is only getting more beautiful with age!

Okay, enough rambling ...

28 Happy Years.

Mrs. DJ doesn't look a day over 25. I/she chose "blindly" (nobody knows the future) but wisely.

We've worked at it but our vows were always DEAR to us. Those vows MEANT something. "For better or worse".

We've seen both sides and will continue.

Been married for 42 years. Strange enough, we met on a blind date.

By now, each knows when to give in on an issue to the other.

We have the longest marriage on either side, except for my mother's parents.

She is my best bud.

I like being married. Been with my starter wife now for 8 years. I've told her many times if it looks like I might get rich that I'm going to trade her in for a trophy wife. She doesn't seem too worried.
I dated her for 4 years. We never lived together. If we had neither of us would have ever married the other one. :)
Very happy,

Don't you guys get bored of bedding the same woman every night? I do... that's what drives me crazy... and it's probably why i'll never get married. After a year or 2.... heck i'm just bored.

From Bradenton, Fl to Buffalo N.Y........:eek: Man, what is she thinking??

I wouldn't leave Fla. right now no ,matter who ordered me...or whatever that situation turns out to be..:p

As far as being married, well it sure beats being single. And this being my second marriage, I can honestly say I have had the pleasure to be married to two of the most wonderful women I know. Wife #1 just had a little too much of my traveling and not coming home often enough. I made the business and the job more important than her and it was see ya later.
Several years later after lots of lickin my wounds I happened to meet the sweetest, kindest most caring little lady. Canadian, too!! We are complete opposites as far as where we grew up and other things, but boy have I lucked out.
We do so many things together and many of our boating and fishing excursions begin with her asking if it isn't time for us to head out again!

Going to be 29 years this year I told my best friend that was the girl I was going to merry after I met her at a campground in Fla. As it turned out we went to the same H.S(large school) and lived less then a mile and a half from each other,I ask her out 3 times before she said ok :D

Being married is a pain in the rear. Cant do what ya want, have to share everything, never know what you did wrong, you just know you did it.

But it sure beats being single.

Married 9 years and still aint bored yet. She keeps it interesting.

Re: Who likes being mairred?

Not Bitter at all. we are both much better separate. i just have not met a person, who would accept my standards. this is my belief, 1. my kids are #1. 2. i am #2, if i can't keep myself healthy mentally and physically, i can't provide. 3. if you can accept the fact that you are actually, # 3 on my priorities, you are welcome to stay.

true my kids are now grown, but if they need something they are still #1. if you can't accept my boats, and dogs. you just don't fit. i still like my life, no hassles.

Re: Who likes being mairred?

TD, i understand. This is my second marriage. I married a Texas girl while stationed in Texas at the end of my enlist.

Worked and lived in Texas at Dallas airport. Air plane mechanics.

The marriage lasted all of 18 months. I moved back to the northeast, and for 12 years was having a grand ole time believe me.

I lived in NY city and worked in the city, single, free, and over 21.

Cabbed it to work, and walked home every night never failed to meet a woman walking home every night i swear. Can't post here the reality no one would believe me.

If you had a few bucks, was not gay, and wasn't really, really ugly, in Manhatten believe me even today you can find a woman in 30 minutes just a fact. And it was before aids and such.

I ain't bragging just telling you how it is, then and now.

Was just something maybe a inner clock telling me something, but i knew she was the one on the first date.

9 years younger then me, maybe it was she said no to me 2 times before she said yes to the first date i don't know.

TD do your thing, if the big guy in the sky has plans for you then it will be.

Otherwise read my signature, it says it all.

Wow TD. Nowaday, women have been "empowered" and "equalled", etc...you will never find a woman that would accept being #3. Two is the lowest they will go, regardless of ANYTHING else.

For a lighter side if your young, this is what i posted to" wildanimal "

Sorta how i lived after my first marriage.

Don't get married, never get married, and if a woman even coughs the m word at you start running till you hit Canada.

Have 10 girlfriends and never see the same one in the same week twice.

Meet the parents, she asks, you know it's to serious never call her again.

Date all your girlfriends, girlfriends, that way she knows you not the marring kind.

Have a different girlfriend clean your apt every day, and leave the other girlfriends underwear, hanging in the shower, this way she knows not to get freeky on ya, and to be nice to ya.

In short enjoy your life, NOW cause it don't get no better latter believe you me.
